President Obama is teaming up with perennial pro-amnesty senators, John McCain and Lindsey Graham (among others), in a fresh push to grant amnesty and a path to citizenship for millions of (mostly Hispanic) illegal immigrants. This will be a “full-court press,” and with our Democratic Party in control of both chambers in Congress, it will probably enjoy the same result as the health care reform bill. Of course, on this subject, it would not have mattered one iota had John McCain been elected President instead of Obama. McCain has long been a champion of amnesty for illegals and would most definitely have promoted this particular agenda from the Oval Office, as Obama is now doing. In reality, Obama and his fellow socialists and globalists in Washington, D.C., are not simply “remaking America.” They are burying the American republic. Not that George W. Bush didn’t do his part, because he most certainly did. Obama is simply escalating the pace. As usual in Washington politics, the Republican and Democratic parties seldom actually reverse the course set by their predecessors; they merely adjust the rhetoric (and maybe the speed), but the overall course toward socialism and globalism never changes. Below is a commentary on how to take action by Ed Garrison. He started with the tenth reason and worked up to the first. Why? Because the first nine supports the most important reason which you will find out. 10. It’s time to raise the American standard of living. The real minimum wage has been declining for over a decade. Some advocate raising the minimum wage–but this would raise the price of unskilled labor above its free-market value. Mass unemployment would result. Why has the market value of unskilled labor declined? For the same reason that all prices move: supply and demand. It’s hard to change the demand side of the equation: You can’t make anyone “need” an unskilled worker who doesn’t need one already. For years, however, we have been artificially modifying the supply side by tolerating a massive influx of unskilled workers across our borders. We can reverse the trend by enforcing immigration laws. We won’t need to raise the minimum wage. It will raise itself. Millions of Americans will be lifted out of poverty, and millions more from the lower middle class to prosperity. 9. We can immediately create millions of new jobs. Conservative estimates place the number of illegal aliens in the U.S. at 20,000,000. Taking into account minor children and the aged, that’s still millions of people who are flooding our labor force. Remove them, and opportunities will abound for Americans. There’s a canard that says that illegals “take the jobs Americans don’t want.” This is a fallacy! There’s no job an American can’t or won’t do for a living wage. It is a cruel joke on the American worker to allow illegals to depress wages for many jobs below poverty level, and then to mock Americans for being reluctant to participate in the poverty. 8. Breaking the law is crime. Lawbreakers are criminals. Out of deference to the PC crowd, many like to use the term “undocumented workers”–as if illegals were merely missing a piece of bureaucratic paperwork. By the same logic, we can call a car thief an “undocumented driver.” Our immigration laws exist for good reasons: to protect our safety, our national sovereignty, our standard of living, our health, and our culture. Those who break them may “want a better life for themselves,” but then again, so do all that enrich themselves by disregarding the law. Many people who wish to immigrate honestly are waiting patiently. Granting privileges like driver’s licenses and social security cards to illegals is a slap in the face to law-abiding citizens and immigrants alike. It’s like opening an express window to give titles and owner’s cards to car thieves, while making legitimate owners stand in line! 7. Open borders threaten our safety. Since the attacks of September 11, 2001, two things have become clear. First, we have enemies, and they are vicious and without conscience. Second, our enemies obviously believe that an attack from within is more feasible than an attack from without. Even before the horrid events of September 11, our immigration laws had the primary purpose of protecting us. The use of visas and passports allows our government to monitor, and control who enters our country, and why. Few illegal aliens are terrorists. But it only takes one! More importantly, the creeping ideology of open borders–the (usually unspoken) belief that treating foreigners who enter our country differently than we treat our own citizens is somehow “discriminatory” or “racist”–is creating a terrible dilemma: Either we cease to monitor the aliens (and open ourselves up for even worse attacks), or we create the “equality” of the police state by casting aside constitutional protections for citizens and monitoring everyone. The more resolutely we protect our borders against threats from without, the safer, and freer, we can live within them. 6. We’re a nation of 293 million; the Third World population is over six billion and growing by 85 million annually. Do the math. Our country seems large, but its population is tiny compared to that of the Third World. China and India alone have seven times our population. For whatever reasons, our society has succeeded in creating immense wealth where many others have created only poverty. An American welfare recipient would still be “rich” by the standards of most of the world. One can’t blame the citizens of countries who produce much less wealth per capita than we for wanting to reap the benefits our forefathers have sown for us. But if we open the borders, our island of productivity and prosperity will soon disappear beneath a flood of Third World squalor. 5. American culture is worth preserving. Culture is more than operas and Shakespearean plays–it’s the sum total of the customs, beliefs, artistic creations, attitudes, goals, and norms that make a society what it is. It is passed down, as a treasure, from grandparent to parent to child. In other words, culture is what gives us our identity. Some advocate “multiculturalism”–creating a society in which multiple cultures exist side by side, and believe that “diversity”–having as many cultures as possible, with none dominant—is desirable. The majority of the media elite believes that we need more multiculturalism and diversity; the majority of the population doesn’t. Regardless of how anyone stands on this issue, the fact is that our society is already multicultural and diverse. Anyone who wishes to enjoy, and celebrate, the many cultures now coexisting in America need only visit any American city. By contrast, genuine American culture–the Founding Fathers, the story of the pioneers and the winning of the West, the Pledge of Allegiance, Columbus Day, the Bill of Rights–is under constant assault. Some of our country’s detractors vilify all that is traditionally American, while others would reduce our traditions to one more example of quaint folklore beside those of other nations. Russian culture can be found in Russia, Mexican culture in Mexico, multiculturalism in any major city… but where can one find American culture? Only in a place where Americans treasure it, and lovingly transmit it from generation to generation. Immigration laws should ensure that those who seek to live permanently on American territory be willing to adopt and preserve its culture. And they are useless unless they are enforced. 4. It’s not your father’s immigration. Previous generations romanticized immigration. The images are still with us: Starry-eyed Irish, Italian, Jewish, and Polish arrivals toting their bags and trunks onto shore at Ellis Island… The tablet at the base of the Statue of Liberty exhorting other nations to “Give me your tired, your poor…” The native-born American learning to love pizza and bagels. That was then. This is now. Yes, there are still many people in foreign lands who harbor the “American Dream,” and who seek to come here to realize it. Let them arrive LEGALLY according to our laws. Millions of illegal aliens, however, have attitudes and motives very different from those of the immigrants in the fading black-and-white photos of yesteryear. It’s not fashionable to speak the truth about this group. But the truth must be spoken. What makes this new breed of “immigrants” different? To begin with, they’re not “immigrating” at all–they’re sneaking in. They don’t have an “American dream” of building this country; rather, though still loyal to their home nations, they want to exploit ours economically. Many even dream of taking over regions of our country, and displacing us. There’s already a word for this goal: Reconquista of Aztlan. If the members of this group don’t intend to return home, yet have no loyalty to America, what should we call them? Certainly not “immigrants.” A ‘colonist’ is a better term. Today’s colonists, like those of the past, want to build enclaves on American soil from which they can expand their own wealth and power, and that of their homeland, while drawing on the resources that were created by the native population. How can we welcome legitimate immigrants while keeping out colonists? By knowing who is coming here, and why, and only admitting those whose presence is in our country’s best interests. In other words, by enforcing immigration laws. 3. It’s an issue we can all come together on. Conservatives, traditionally, aim to preserve the valuable legacy of the past, and to protect freedom by limiting the power of government. Liberals seek to provide all citizens, even the most disadvantaged, with the opportunity to realize their full potential. Both have worthy goals, but often squabble over how to realize them. Removing illegal aliens can give us the best of both worlds. We can preserve our traditional culture. And without resorting to costly and intrusive government programs, we can give our poor a genuine “hand up”: as the glut of cheap labor dries up, those at the bottom rung of the economic ladder will suddenly find themselves able to climb higher without ruinous competition. People of good will on the left and the right can only smile approvingly as the free market provides our unskilled and uneducated with a decent wage, and with a job market that welcomes instead of marginalizes them. We can “live better than we did four years ago” and have a rebirth of national pride, as President Reagan wanted for us. And we can have a “New Deal” for our poor, a society where no American is left out, which were the ideals of President Roosevelt. At last, we can come together. That’s what patriotism is all about. 2. We either face tough issues now, or tougher ones later. Immigration issues are complex. We need a national debate–which, judging by Obama–it isn’t happening. Most Americans, when confronted with the facts, want what they want now: strict enforcement of our immigration laws. It won’t be easy. We’ll have to find workable ways to deport illegal aliens without creating unnecessary hardships for those who have broken our immigration laws, and without creating severe dislocations for the unscrupulous employers who have benefited from their presence. And, of course, we’ll have to counter, with quiet reason, the voices of those who scream “discrimination” or “racism.” Some cringe at the challenges that await us. These challenges, however, pale in comparison to those that future generations will face if we fail to act. Imagine an overcrowded, impoverished America with shrinking wages and expanding burdens on the social service system. Imagine an America where millions of Americans have been driven out of their neighborhoods by throngs of foreign colonists who neither speak our language nor understand the culture that created American prosperity–but who deeply resent the poverty that inevitably results from their own unwillingness, or inability, to live as true Americans. Will Americans be forced to tax away their own shriveling wealth, and to transfer it to the aliens within our borders, if they wish to appease the colonists’ anger? Will the shrinking American middle class merge with the alien underclass to form a new “peasant culture” while a tiny American elite trembles behind the walls of heavily policed gated communities? Or will full-scale cultural and racial war break out? None of these possibilities is appealing. Nonetheless, a society is a reflection of the population that comprises it. If we, as an advanced society with a low birthrate, continue to import a Third World population with a high birthrate, we will become a Third World society, and will face the problems, which other Third World societies face as well. Isn’t it better to face the issue of illegal immigration now–and to do something about it? … and the number one reason is: 1. We owe it to our kids and grandkids. Our children and grandchildren will marvel at the digitized archives of the TV shows of the 1950s and 1960s. They’ll see a prosperous, free, united America– the envy of the world, a place anyone would be happy and proud to call home. This, they’ll realize, was the legacy our grandparents and parents left us, the American citizens of the early 21st century. How will the America we leave to our children stack up against the America our parents left to us? What will future generations think of us? Will we be known as the preservers and expanders of the beautiful legacy, or as its destroyers? By our actions or inactions, we’re deciding which it will be. Right now. Garrison gave us the most powerful and compelling reasons I have seen for each one of us to take actions for preserving our country. It behooves each of you to use your computer, telephone, radio station, TV station, letters to the editor of your newspaper and calls to every senator and congressman every week relentlessly to gain national focus on this immigration invasion. Democracy is not a spectator sport. This nation is in danger of becoming a Third World nightmare with all the corruption, disease, illiteracy, violence and balkanization known all over the world. We need a 10-year moratorium on all immigration to catch our collective breath and we need deportation of over 15 million illegal aliens in a slow and orderly fashion. This is your nation and this is your time to take action. It is a sacred trust handed down since the time of Thomas Jefferson and our founding fathers. The “progressive movement” is the root of all evil in American politics, a “cancer” and a “virus” and a “parasite” that has “infected” both the Democratic and Republican parties. When Ronald Reagan labeled the Soviet Union as the “Evil Empire”, the progressives went nuts. When George Bush called Iran, Iraq and North Korea “The Axis of Evil” they went nuts again. Progressivism, the Americanized version of European and Asian socialism, is made up mostly of hard-core socialists and secular humanists. Progressivism does not recognize the concept of evil. It believes in the perfectibility of human nature and the promise of utopia here on earth to be brought about by the enlightened, benevolent hand of government. Masquerading as the savior of humanity, in reality all socialism, whether labeled socialism, Nazism, fascism, communism, or progressivism is the very essence of evil. During the twentieth century, socialism in its various forms was responsible for the slaughter of untold millions of innocent people through genocide, war, and political purges. In the Union of Soviet Socialistic Republics, 60 million were slaughtered; under the Nationalist Socialists German Workers Party, 20 million; and under the People’s Republic of China, 50 million. Add to that the millions who died under Pol Pot, Castro, Ho Chi Minh, and other socialists dictators, and you have an unbelievable amount of human suffering that can only be ascribed to evil. For those unfortunate enough to live under one of the forms of socialism, life consists of misery, oppression and deprivation. Considering the consistent failure of socialism during its hundred and fifty year history, it is difficult to understand how any sane person could voluntarily choose it as the preferred systems of government and economics. There has never been an experiment in socialism of any duration that can be pointed to as an example of a successful culture. Every time it is tried, it fails miserably. To understand this incongruity of human experience we only have to look at the recent history of our own country. Socialism is never presented as “socialism”. In fact, the most ardent supporters of socialist policies are offended when someone identifies them as socialists. In America, socialism is sold under the pseudonyms of “liberalism”, “progressivism” and occasionally “fiscal conservatism“. For that reason, most people who support socialist policies do so without knowing they are embracing socialism. The essence of socialism is deception. At first glance, it appears that socialist policies are motivated by the highest of human ideals, compassion, concern, caring, sympathy, etc. Socialists’ appeals are made on behalf of the poor, the children, the disenfranchised, and those who have been unfortunate in life’s lottery. The reality is that socialism appeals to the basest of human flaws: jealousy, hatred, greed and envy. Progressives’ most potent weapon against capitalism is class envy and jealousy. Early on, they perfected the technique of demonizing “big business”. In the late eighteen hundreds progressives discovered that if they stereotyped “big businesses” as the enemy of the very people they served, the people, in return would grant progressives political power, not only over businesses but in other areas as well. Politicians found that by blaming the “robber barons of industry” for the ills of society— and there were many— they could win votes and support for their policies by posing as champions of the oppressed. In the early stages of the progressive era, the targets were the railroads, oil companies, steel companies, tobacco companies, and others who were instrumental in raising the standard of living for the American People. Progressive demonization of “big business” reached a high point under President William McKinley in 1898 with the formation of the “U.S. Industrial Commission on Trusts”. Theodore Roosevelt won the Presidency in 1900 on the basis of his attacks on “big business”, and “trust busting” became the theme for his time in office. However, William Howard Taft who succeeded Roosevelt as President was even more successful, breaking up 90 large firms during his four years in office compared with Roosevelt’s 44 during his eight-year term. The vilification of “big business” proved so politically successful for the progressives in the beginning that they have continued to use the tactic ever since to gain public support for their policies. The “villain du jour” currently is the insurance industry. A year ago, it was the banks. It all depends on what progressive policy is being pushed at the time. By successfully blaming the banking industry for our current economic woes rather than destructive government economic policies, Congress was able to gain support for its “bailout” packages. It is now attempting the same thing with health care, blaming insurance company “greed” for its high cost in order to gain support for their “reform” proposals. Unfortunately, it seems to be working. The entity most often blamed by the media, and ultimately the public, for the exorbitant cost of health care is insurance company greed. The fact is that insurance companies are in general no more profitable than other companies of similar size, and a large percentage of their profits come from investments, not premiums. The real greed comes not from capitalism but from progressivism. The number one attraction of progressivism is its promise to provide the public with economic benefits they have not earned by forcefully taking from the earnings of others. This attitude is the epitome of greed. Deception, corruption, envy, greed, jealously, coercion, thievery and wholesale murder mark the existence of socialism in the world. Socialism in America is represented by the progressives in and out of government, primarily in the Democratic Party but extant in the Republican Party as well, only to a lesser degree. The true “Axis of Evil” in America, that threatens to destroy the most successful system of government in world history are the progressive politicians, public sector unions, and federal bureaucracies. In other words, for a Progressive it is better to live in safety as a slave than to live in danger with Liberty. Progressives feel they are entitled to all of the best that life has to offer whether or not they contribute to their own success. Progressives are the cancer, the plague that could eventually destroy mankind and any remote concept of Freedom. Not to mention, the world economy and America as we know it. Written by: Andrew Foy, MD The greatest expansion of American government and the social welfare state since the Great Society passed the House Sunday night. Opponents recognize that this bill violates the most important principles of American government, and as such, is immoral. In a free society, does one individual’s needs constitute another individual’s obligation to provide? The answer is no; rather, it is the duty of free individuals to decide what and whose needs appear most important to them. In a free society, the individual is of supreme importance and should not to be used as a means to society’s ends. The individual has the right to order his actions and possessions in the manner most consistent with pursuing his own happiness and values. This view is consistent with America’s founding principles. The Declaration of Independence states: We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.-That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed. The above rights are known as “Natural Rights,” and they protect the individual’s right to freedom, autonomy, and self-government — in other words, to take all the actions required to support the furtherance, fulfillment, and enjoyment of one’s own life. They provide no material assurances or particular opportunities to the individual, but rather set conditions that allow the individual to decide what use he shall make of the circumstances in which he finds himself — to act in his own best interest so long as his actions don’t infringe on the equally protected rights of others. Based on this logic, government programs that involuntarily transfer or redistribute wealth are immoral because they violate the individual’s natural right to order his own actions and possessions. Theft is immoral. Likewise, theft via the government is immoral. Karl Marx and Thomas Jefferson highlight the differences between collectivism and individualism. The philosophy of collectivism regards the individual as a means to society’s ends and is thus immoral, whereas individualism respects the freedom and autonomy of each member of society. “From each according to his ability, to each according to his need.” - Karl Marx, 1875 “A wise and frugal Government, which shall restrain men from injuring one another, shall leave them otherwise free to regulate their own pursuits of industry and improvement, and shall not take from the mouth of labor the bread it has earned.” - Thomas Jefferson, 1801 Another important question is: What constitutes a need, and who should decide? Should it be the patient in concert with his or her physician? This seems like the obvious choice. However, if society is paying the cost of whatever service is required to satisfy “the need,” then the provision of that service must be regulated to prevent overutilization and runaway costs. In other words, it must be rationed. In a free market, prices perform this rationing function. In the absence of a free market, some third party must ration based on a formula other than price. Rationing by price is moral because this unbiased mechanism allows individuals to maintain complete freedom and autonomy. A patient who cannot afford a service that he deems a “need” is still free if he can pursue any course of action in order to meet that “need.” Likewise, a provider who feels that his patient “needs” a service is free if he can pursue any course of action in order to provide that service. Some members of society today confuse the concept of true freedom or liberty with the concept of how many options are available to an individual, and this encourages them to advocate for collectivist schemes to help those who may be less fortunate. “[Liberty] describes the absence of a particular obstacle — coercion by other men … the range of physical possibilities from which a person can choose at a given moment has no direct relevance to freedom. The rock climber on a difficult pitch who sees only one way out to save his life is unquestionably free … if [he] were to fall into a crevasse and were unable to get out of it, he could only figuratively be called ‘unfree,’ and that to speak of him as being “deprived of liberty” or of being ‘held captive’ is to use these terms in a sense different from that in which they apply to social relations.” - F.A. Hayek Unfortunately, the only alternative to rationing through price is rationing through the government, and this is immoral because the decision of what constitutes a “need” is made by a third party with no personal connection to the individual or his circumstances. Ultimately, these decisions are made by those with the most political influence — a situation that inevitably breeds corruption. These governing bodies do not respect the primacy of the individual, but rather view the individual as a means to society’s ends. Bureaucrats don’t make decisions about health care according to an individual’s “need” or preference, but rather, they ration resources based on a social-driven calculus. As evidence of this, the health care bill under consideration has a Medicare board of unelected officials to determine the program’s treatment protocols as a method of limiting costs. I believe, without reservation, in the Freeman’s Oath. I know freedom is never free, that it is, in fact, the dearest thing in life, for no matter what its financial costs may be, freedom, in addition, always requires the sacrifice of human life: both, to gain freedom and to retain freedom. I believe the only people who have a right to freedom are those who are willing to pay the price of freedom; I know that only those who are willing to pay the price of freedom can be free. I know there are always people whose driving ambition is to “rule” other people - to deny others their natural rights, and who will never rest until they achieve that end. These people are the free man’s natural enemy, therefore, my foe - by their choice, not mine. I believe it is not only my right to oppose the enemies of freedom with whatever force may be necessary, but that it is my duty, my obligation to oppose those enemies, whosoever they may prove to be. I believe they deserve no more understanding or compassion from me than they give to me and my fellow freemen. I know that enemy may include, in addition to foreign aggressors, my brother, my friend, my neighbor, and even my government. But that person who would deny me my birthright and my heritage is not my brother, my friend, my neighbor, or my government - he is my mortal enemy! I was born a free woman (man), and I will stay a free woman (man). I pledge my life, my fortune, and my sacred honor to defend freedom from all its enemies, and to stand, when called, shoulder to shoulder with all other free men, in battle if necessary, against even my brother, my friend, my neighbor, and my government. Below is the opposing view by Jim DeMint: This monstrosity ignores people’s will and violates the Constitution. There’s no fixing the government health care takeover Democrats forced through on Sunday. It must be repealed. After telling Americans in 2008 that they would lower spending, taxes and insurance premiums, Democrats passed a bill that breaks every promise. Using secret deals, kickbacks and carve-outs, Democratic leaders jammed through legislation to control more than one-sixth of the nation’s economy. The plan will explode the national debt, raise $569.2 billion in new taxes, force taxpayers to fund abortions, and impose unconstitutional mandates on every American. All of this was done in the face of overwhelming public outrage and bipartisan opposition in Congress. This process has been an insult to our democracy and threatens our nation’s prosperity and freedom. Government bureaucrats will now dictate the terms of our health care system. Americans must purchase Washington-formulated insurance plans or pay stiff penalties, a requirement that defies the Constitution and is a boon to the insurance companies the Democrats pretend to despise. This plan raids $52 billion from Social Security. It cuts nearly $500 billion from Medicare and doesn’t count the hundreds of billions needed to compensate doctors who treat elderly patients. A portion of this trillion dollar bill is paid for with a government takeover of the student loan industry. The government will shut down private lenders, sell expensive loans to 19 million college students and use the profits to finance “ObamaCare.” It adds millions of people to Medicaid, a failing program that many doctors and pharmacists refuse to participate in. Medicaid won’t do its patients any good if a doctor won’t treat them or a pharmacist won’t fill their prescriptions. Even the bill’s most strident supporters doubt its effectiveness. Many admit to not understanding the bill they voted on. Some voted “yes” out of fear a “no” vote would hurt the president. Americans objected at every turn, peacefully protesting for over a year and begging their leaders not to take away their health care freedom. They asked for common-sense solutions such as buying health insurance across state lines, stopping frivolous lawsuits that drive up costs, and giving the same tax breaks to those who don’t get insurance from employers. Washington didn’t listen. When a president and a Congress collude to violate the Constitution and ignore the American people, everything our nation stands for is at risk. It’s not too late to undo the damage. I, and other Republicans, will work to repeal this monstrosity, and give Americans freedom to make their own health care choices. Sen. The House members spent most of Sunday voting on the health care reform bill, and our Democratic Party representatives in Washington barely won with a handful of “yes” votes needed to get it passed. Our Democratic Party representatives in Washington were greeted Sunday by protestors outside the Capitol condemning the bill. People all across this country realize this is a bad bill and they put the pressure on every Member of Congress to oppose it. The debate on the house floor was intense. Beyond the issue of abortion, there are parts of this bill that are good, including making health insurance affordable for the uninsured. There is NO high road when you are trying to re-level the playing field. Identify the financial tumors in your midst. Call out those who received/receive federal or state housing or food subsidies. Shun them. They are not your equals; your are considered their patsies. DAYLIGHT WILL HELP TO ERADICATE THEM. Turn your back on union-made products. Loudly protest pay and/or benefit increases by any public union. Point out the names and locations of any members of Code Pink, MoveOn.org, SEIU, AFSCME, PETA, AMA or ANA in your region. If the federal government fails to follow statutory process rules and Constitutional Due Process, understand that those people are not your government but domestic enemies who have overthrown your government. The must be removed. If your state government does not act immediately against the federal government’s totalitarian behavior, the people in your government are of the same cloth as the feds. They must go, too. Educate the childen around you, teach them the benefits of scholarship, of not relying upon the government dole to finance their education. Furthermore, run for school board, city council, or any other “low level” elective office. You must act to purge the moral relativists, nannies, and socialists (communists “progressivists” whatever flavor) from your local political field. If you have the wherewithal, run for state or federal government. YOU WILL FIND SUPPORT. Stand behind veterans, especially disabled veterans, and ask them to lead the charge when the going gets tough. Support veterans and minorities in your area that work hard and support the Constitutional Republic. Assist them, if they ask your help, to gain a school board seat, a city council position, or a leadership role in county,state, or federal government. After all, it doesn’t matter what someone’s race, ethnicity. or gender may be, so long as they are committed to support free markets, freedom to work, the Bill of Rights, and the Constitution. Dr. Alan Keyes - “Obama is a Radical Communist - Will Destroy America!” Alan Keyes, a 2008 presidential candidate who is also a plaintiff in one of the many lawsuits challenging Barack Obama’s constitutional eligibility to occupy the Oval Office, charged at a pro-life rally that unless Obama’s social and economic policies are stopped, the United States as we know it is over. Keyes’ comments were part of an interview with a reporter from KHAS-TV at a fundraiser for the AAA Crisis Pregnancy Center in Hastings, Neb. “Obama is a radical communist, and I think it is becoming clear. Our Democratic Party representatives in Washington are no longer bothering with letting sound arguments and good reasoning rule the day when they can steal from others to finance their own success, and never mind the truth when our political elite can gain power by lying and manipulation. Pushing and pulling data just like the Republicans, these Democratic Party hucksters press their agenda of fear all the same to their own desired outcomes as well. Many of us are now ashamed to be Democrats. More than that, we have come to fear our own Democratic Party. Hatred and corruption - the roots of socialism - are on the march as they have never been before, and leading this march is our Democratic Party. Increasingly, mainstream Democrats are uncomfortable with what they are seeing in our party. All the more, we know it is dangerous. We as Democrats are marching in a parade with people Harry Truman or even Jack Kennedy would not recognize - socialist (also know as progressives). Strangely, without meaning to, we the mainstream Democrats find ourselves representing this “socialist movement.” However, for the socialist within our Democratic Party, there is nothing so strange about it. Socialists have always sought to leverage corruption for the sake of power. As a result, our Democratic Party has already lost the equivalent of every member we have acquired over the past seven years or more, and many of them are now supporting the tea party. More importantly, a recent Newsweek cover declared, “We are all socialists now.” Meanwhile our middle-class families are looking for more than empty promises. They want to go back to work. And they want our Democratic Party representatives who run Washington to stop pursuing a big government, big spending agenda that includes a government takeover of health care, stimulus bills, a new national energy tax and taxpayer-funded bailouts. Looking back, most voters still consider the bailouts of both the finance and auto industries to be a bad idea. By a 2-to-1 margin, voters believe the bailouts hurt the economy in the long run. In spite of everything our Democratic Party representatives in Washington will borrow $1.6 trillion this year, or about $15,000 for every household in the country. Over the next 10 years our federal government is expected to borrow an additional $8.5 trillion, and this is on top of the 12 trillion we currently owe. These figures are beyond being enormous, especially since we already pay one in seven dollars in interest. By Janice Shaw Crouse What we’re seeing in Washington, D.C. is not “politics as usual” with the arm twisting and “horse trading” that is typical in getting a bill passed; instead, it is ideological warfare. What Obama, Reid and Pelosi are doing is not legislating; it is an act of tyranny — overturning all the rules and principles of government in a representative democracy. Attempting to pass the Senate version of ObamaCare in the House under the ironically named “Slaughter Rule” (to circumvent the objections of the Stupak coalition to taxpayer funding of abortion) is an exercise in raw power akin to the many acts of judicial tyranny the American public has endured over the last 40 years from judges who have little regard for the Constitution. Apparently Obama, Reid and Pelosi aren’t worried about losing control of Congress in 2010 or even the presidency in 2012, because their higher goal is to irrevocably institutionalize their ideology. Once government control of health care is established, their leftist principles will be implemented by an unelected bureaucracy that rules without accountability to the general public, whether or not the Democratic Party is the majority in Congress or holds the presidency. Obama, Reid and Pelosi have learned nothing from history; they are as blind to their own tyranny as were King George and the British Parliament. They show no comprehension of the moral outrage that will ignite in this country if they ram through ObamaCare, a bill that requires taxpayer funding for abortion, usurps individual rights to choose their own personal health care options, and saddles the nation with a growing flood of debt which will drown our children and grandchildren. Last Friday morning you could see workers beginning to set up barricades around the Capitol in preparation for the demonstrations they expect in response to the Democrats’ autocratic actions. They mistakenly think that the Tea Party protests are temporary flare ups that mere barricades can contain, but their legislative and executive tyranny is unleashing emotions that have the potential to rival the anti-slavery movement of the Civil War era and the Civil Rights protests of the 1960s. Having abandoned those transcendent moral principles upon which this nation was founded for a false ideology of their own imagining, they have no understanding of the righteous fury that will build in this nation when her citizens see their government sanction morally reprehensible acts. Leaders across the nation — nearly half a million strong — have already signed the Manhattan Declaration declaring that moral principles take precedence over laws that ignore the value of human life and individual freedom. These deeply-held religious beliefs are inviolable, non-negotiable, and they are protected under the U.S. Constitution. Thousands of America’s Orthodox, Catholic and evangelical Christian leaders have laid down a gauntlet: By reaffirming the fundamental truth that life and liberty come, not from man-made laws, but from God, we have joined together “to defend the sanctity of life, the dignity of marriage as the conjugal union of husband and wife, and the rights of conscience and religious liberty.” We have, in good faith, expressed our objections and righteous indignation over and over again only to be repeatedly rebuffed and ignored. Poll after poll demonstrates that U.S. citizens are strongly opposed to ObamaCare and its impact on our nation. Yet the Obama/Reid/Pelosi axis is determined to ignore the will of the people that they were elected to represent and to dictatorially impose on the nation their ideas of what’s best. They have lived so long in the rarified air of elitism that they think the “masses” will simply accept their “superior wisdom.” These unprecedented assaults on basic American principles compel Manhattan Declaration signers to forcefully mount a defense of human life, marriage and religious freedom. Manhattan Declaration signers have said that civil disobedience is necessary when faced with gravely unjust laws requiring submission to laws that violate our principled moral beliefs about abortion, marriage, and religious freedom. As the Manhattan Declaration states, “We will fully and ungrudgingly render to Caesar what is Caesar’s. By Richard Baehr It took a while — fourteen months, to be exact — but both the ADL and AIPAC have issued very solid statements condemning the president’s new verbal war on Israel. The organizations are further asking for the administration to curtail the public berating of its supposed ally and work with Israel in a more diplomatic fashion on both the peace process and Iran. What is disgraceful is that so far, exactly one elected Democrat in Congress has done the same: Congresswoman Shelley Berkley of Nevada. Sadly, Democrats seem to care far more about passing health care legislation this week than protecting the U.S.-Israel relationship from Obama’s assault. It’s apparent that indifference of (if not hostility to) Israel’s survival is at work. The infamous New York Daily News headline about Gerald Ford’s response to New York’s fiscal crisis was less fair to him (he never said these words) than the title of this article is to President Obama. It is interesting that David Axelrod, who blasted Israel on network news programs on Sunday and is a proud standard-bearer of the Millard Fillmore label when it comes to the history and politics of the Middle East conflict (for the record, Fillmore headed the Know Nothing Party back in the 1850s), will be honored by the NJDC (National Jewish Democratic Council) at a coming event. Axelrod has pretty much a perfect record of having avoided any connection with any pro-Israel or Jewish communal activity in his long political career, with the notable exception of raising money from Jews for Democratic candidates. This Obama does well, too. In Obama’s case, the handwriting as to his sympathies in the Middle East conflict (not to be confused with his lies delivered to AIPAC conferences) was pretty well-documented well before he was elected – the twenty years he listened in rapture to the sermons of Reverend Wright; all those dinners and babysitting and chit-chat with Rashid Khalidi and Ali Abunimah; the close friendship with Samantha Power (who sought an international force to invade the West Bank and liberate it from Israel); and the years spent in the most anti-Israel hothouses in America — the neighborhoods where elite colleges are located. Martin Peretz has it right that America elected its first third-world president, and Obama is behaving accordingly. His sympathies lie with the Palestinians. He is, after all, a redistributionist on all issues, and he will always favor the group or state he perceives as weaker. The flak attacks by Hillary Clinton, other State Department officials, and Axelrod will do nothing to advance the peace process, ostensibly the goal of the administration. Since Oslo, the Palestinians for over fifteen years spoke directly to Israelis without intermediation, even during the intifada. When Obama launched his presidency with a call for a 100% settlement freeze on all land beyond the Green Line, including natural growth of settlements, he enabled the Palestinians to avoid coming back for talks without those conditions being met. Why would the Palestinians be more pro-Israel than the White House and accept less than the White House was demanding of Israel? Now the PA can hang back some more and honor some more mass murderers of Israelis while they wait for Obama to deliver more Israeli concessions before talks begin (prisoner releases, extending the settlement freeze to Jerusalem, eliminating more roadblocks, easing the blockade of Gaza). Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is right to let the Americans know that Israel will continue to build within its capital. To please the Americans and not establish facts on the ground, only new housing for Palestinians would be allowed. Of course, when the ten-month freeze on new settlements in the West Bank was agreed to, Bibi came in for high praise. He specifically excluded Jerusalem from that freeze. The announcement of the 1,600 units in a neighborhood where 16,000 Jews already live was step four in a seven-step approval process, with no construction for three more years. So yes, maybe it was an ill-timed announcement with Joe Biden in town, given how everyone needs to walk on hot coals to avoid giving the PA another excuse not to negotiate even indirectly with Israel. For the Obama administration to blow up over this as some grave insult is ridiculous but telling. This is a real and deliberate provocation by Obama, not Israel. Here was an opportunity for the administration to let Israel know which side Obama backs. Sad to say, even J-Street has been better than Obama this week. The White House had nothing to say (no condemnation, to be sure) about the Palestinian Authority honoring a terrorist mass murderer of Israeli Jews last week. Even J-Street said that this was a provocation and condemned it. Murdered Jews or Jewish apartments: Obama evidently finds the latter more repellent. Then again, Obama was silent on the mass murder of hundreds of Christians in Nigeria by Muslim marauders. Never will an unkind word be said about Muslim murderers or Palestinian killers that might detract from Obama’s charm offensive to the Muslim world — the one that so far has accomplished only a projection of weakness, cowardice, and a loss of any ability to weigh competing claims fairly. It’s very hard to know what’s behind the mask. The taking down of the Clinton machine was an amazing accomplishment. The Clintons still do not understand what hit them. Obama was in the perfect place at the perfect time. 2. Obama has political skills comparable to Reagan and Clinton. He has a way of making you think he’s on your side, agreeing with your position, while doing the opposite. Pay no attention to what he SAYS but rather, watch what he does! 3. Obama has a ruthless quest for power. He did not come to Washington to make something out of himself, but rather to change everything, including dismantling capitalism. He can’t be straightforward on his ambitions, as the public would not go along. 4. Obama has a heavy hand, and wants to level the playing field with income redistribution and punishment to the achievers of society. He would like to model the USA to Great Britain or Canada. 5. His three main goals are to control ENERGY, PUBLIC EDUCATION, and NATIONAL HEALTHCARE by the Federal government. He doesn’t care about the auto or financial services industries, but got them as an early bonus. The cap and trade will add costs to everything and stifle growth. Paying for FREE college education is his goal. Most scary is his healthcare program, because if you make it FREE and add 46,000,000 people to a Medicare-type single-payer system, the costs will go through the roof. The only way to control costs is with massive RATIONING of services, like in Canada. 6. Obama has surrounded himself with mostly far-left academic types. No one around him has ever even run a candy store. But they are going to try and run the auto, financial, banking and other industries. This obviously can’t work in the long run. Obama is not a socialist; rather he’s a far-left secular progressive bent on nothing short of revolution. He ran as a moderate, but will govern from the hard left. Again, watch what he does, not what he says. 7. Obama doesn’t really see himself as President of the United States , but more as a ruler over the world. Obama sees himself above it all, trying to orchestrate & coordinate various countries and their agendas. Obama sees moral equivalency in all cultures. Obama’s apology tour in Germany and England was a prime example of how he sees America , as an imperialist nation that has been arrogant, rather than a great noble nation that has at times made errors. This is the first President ever who has chastised our allies and appeased our enemies! 8. Obama is now handing out goodies. He hopes that the bill (and pain) will not come due until after he is reelected in 2012. He would like to blame all problems on Bush from the past, and hopefully his successor in the future. Obama has a huge ego, hObama is a narcissist. 9. Republicans are in the wilderness for a while, but will emerge strong. Republicans are pining for another Reagan, but there will never be another like him. Mitt Romney, Tim Pawlenty & Bobby Jindahl are the future of the party. Newt Gingrich is brilliant, but has baggage. Sarah Palin is sincere and intelligent, but needs to seriously bone up on facts and info if she is to be a serious candidate in the future. We need to return to the party of lower taxes, smaller government, personal responsibility, strong national defense, and state’s rights. 10. The current level of spending is irresponsible and outrageous. We are spending trillions that we don’t have. This could lead to hyperinflation, depression or worse. No country has ever spent themselves into prosperity. The media is giving Obama, Reid and Pelosi a pass because they love their agenda. But eventually the bill will come due and people will realize the huge bailouts didn’t work, nor will the stimulus package. These were trillion-dollar payoffs to Obama’s allies, unions and the Congress to placate the left, so he can get support for #4 above. 11. The election was over in mid-September when Lehman brothers failed, fear and panic swept in, we had an unpopular President, and the war was grinding on indefinitely without a clear outcome. The people are in pain, and the mantra of change caused people to act emotionally. Any Dem would have won this election; it was surprising it was as close as it was. 12. In 2012, if the unemployment rate is over 10%, Republicans will be swept back into power. If it’s under 8%, the Dems continue to roll. If it’s between 8-10%, it will be a dogfight. It will all be about the economy. I hope this gets you really thinking about what’s happening in Washington and Congress. There is a left-wing revolution going on, keep the faith and join the loyal resistance. The work will be hard, but we’re right on most issues and can reclaim our country, before it’s far too late.
